Excursions

Nash Ambassador Uruguay is a small sparsely populated agricultural country. Large herds of cattle graze the fields on the rolling hills. Old villages and towns are scattered around the countryside with a flavour of the past. On the road you still come across so many vintage cars which ought to be exhibited in museums.

We ourselfs are proud owners of such a car: a Nash Ambassador , 1939.
We would love to give you the experience to ride in our Nash to some old Estancias or where ever you like to give you a chance to sample the flavour of the South American country lifestyle.

Colonia del Sacramento founded in 1680 has been honored as an UNESCO World Heritage site. Located on the shores of the Rio de la Plata, this picturesque town, rich in history offers you a variety of sights. There are many museums, boutiques for you to discover. You might like to sample a glass of local wine in any of the many restaurants in the squares or the small cobblestoned lanes and experience the traditional unique atmosphere of Colonia.

Anchorena - 20 km from Gondwana you will find another interesting place which might be worth a visit. The adventurer and balloonist Aron Anchorena, has built himself a stately estancia of 11‘000 acres on the river Rio de la Plata. After his death the family passed the right of use of the property over to the State of Uruguay as a summer residence for the current President in office, with the condition that the public has the right to visit during the weekend.

Other destinations are the capital of Montevideo (180 km) and the popular beach resort of Punta del Este (350 km) on the South Atlantic coast which are reachable by public bus from Colonia.

An other way to explore Uruguay is by rental car. The country is very safe, easy to get around in and has a well marked road system. We can again offer our services to organise a car for you at a compatible rate.

Should you have any further questions please don't hesitate to contact us. We speak English, Spanish, German, French and some Italian.
